NECRATOHOLIC (Maguro Wasabi)

I don’t think I’ve ever read a single vampire yaoi I liked and this one makes me even less hopeful that I’ll be finding one anytime soon. It’s…bad. Remember that weird fanfiction you wrote in high school that you and your friends thought was hilarious but you find it as an adult and cringe so hard your skin crawls and think “oh my God this needs to be burned, it should never see the light of day?” (Er, not that I’m speaking from personal experience or anything…) Well, that’s this manga….Except your high school fanfiction could have been better than this.

ROMANTIC ILLUSIONS (Reiichi Hiiro)

Yu is a boy who shares a body with two extra personalities, a high-powered defense lawyer named Kaname and a slutty playboy named Ryo, that his mind invented to love him when his mother abandoned him. They swap turns taking control of Yu’s body, but can still communicate inside his head. Even though Yu created them to love him, they still want love lives of their own. Hijinks ensue!

Multiple personality disorder is usually nothing in fiction like it is IRL, and even moreso in this manga, but it’s a cute dramedy with decent art and a unique idea so that’s something at least

SIGHING KISS (Riyu Yamakami)

Oh, oh! Finally, a good one! I feel like a dude who’s been fishing the whole day and the only thing that’s been biting is tiny lightsaber-dick-largemouth-bass and man-rape-mackerel, or a strange deformed mystery fish like Tomcats that looked like it swam out of the number four reactor at Chernobyl. But I suddenly I finally reeled in a decent fish – it’s no lunker but I’ll eat tonight at least. Perhaps next time I should move to a lake that’s actually been stocked with fish past 2008…

Picture this. You’re an intern. You have a crush on your boss. You secretly pine after him, day after day. You slowly befriend him outside of work. One night you’re watching TV at your place together, and the show makes him tear up. Ooo, it’s your big opportunity! All you have to do is lean over and comfort him with a pat on the back or a hug, right? Maybe even a kiss!

Pfft. Wrong, weirdo. According to this manga, you should lick his face, obviously…

MANHATTAN LOVE STORY (Momoko Tenzen)

Manhattan is a nice romantic backdrop for a BL. Towering skyscrapers, the hustle and bustle of the streets, tranquil Central Park, the Statue of Liberty, horns honking all hours of the day and night, congealed garbage on the sidewalk, footlong rats eating leftover pizza crust on the subway tracks, unobstructed views of Jersey City…sorry, was that last one too gross?
