Continuing to read through Deux Press collection and today we have a title from Yuuya, who did a pretty wild title called Endless Rain from DMP. FreshMen wasn’t bad but it was much more restrained in terms of content, and someone hoping for a title like Rain might be disappointed. However, there’s still pretty men, decent art, and a ton of sex, so plenty to feast your eyes on in here.
This book is divided between one main story that takes up about half the pages, followed by a few side stories using a different set of characters from her doujin work. The main story stars two college students whose names are Saito and Sato, which was an odd choice – for the first part of the story I was sort of confused and thought it was the same name just with a typo.
Sato is closeted and begins to get feelings for Saito when he sees his dressed in drag for a school contest. Saito decides he’s fine with this, and they quickly become sexually active with each other. Saito takes the lead and likes to be the seme during sex but also likes to give head. He has a bit of a mischievous personality but is a gentle lover.
Sato was a star tennis player in high school and decides to join the tennis club when one of his past high school crushes shows up and joins the team, a guy named Otagawa. Sato seems confused on whether he still has feelings for him much to Saito’s chagrin, and one night he accepts an invitation to go over to Otagawa’s place and hang out. Otagawa is having a party and shows his true colors, revealing himself to be a complete asshole when he ties up Sato and attempts to rape him in front of everyone at the party.
Thankfully Sato is able to get away and quickly returns to Saito’s loving arms and get back “down to business.”
It was a pretty basic sort of BL school story, but was definitely heavily spiced up by Yuuya’s attractive art style, pretty men, and copious amount of sex scenes.
After this are a couple stories featuring a set of characters from a series of doujins she did called Chomaru. I read a scan of a story featuring these characters around the same time as I read Endless Rain, but it wasn’t any of the ones featured here. Honestly I couldn’t really get into any of them despite the inclusion of sex scenes and they’re all definitely more unpolished than the main story. I guess I’ll just share some pics of those even though I can’t even remember who these characters are since far be it from me to not give the people what they want.
Overall all though for like a BL title from the late 00s it’s pretty ok. I sort of wish the main story just took up the whole thing, but I like Yuuya’s art and I’ll take pretty men having sex any day.
TL;DR: A pretty basic but decent sort of BL college tale that is definitely juiced by Yuuya’s pretty art and tons of sex scenes. The second half has some lackluster early side stories of characters from her doujin work which are meh, but it’s filled with attractively drawn men having plenty of sex so it should satisfy a BL craving pretty well.
